Expenditure On R&d, Exports of High Technology and Sustainability
Sustainability is a concept that covers many topics, from the environment to social and economic well-being, some indices or proxies represent them. One of the key aspects to achieve long-term sustainability is spending on research and development and technology, to improve our production systems. This will not only contribute to the innovation and competitiveness of a region, but will also help to minimize the environmental impact of our activities. For this reason, the objective of this research is to analyze the influence of R&D expenditure on the export of products high-tech (technology proxy) and population in sustainability (measured by renewable energy consumption). Using a Vector Autoregressive (VAR) model, it was verified that explanatory variables over time have an influence on sustainability. As a policy suggestion, training programs and access to technology were recommended in order to maintain sustainability.
