Natural Hand Gesture Interaction For 3d Transformations In Immersive Vr
We present a new hand gesture-based user interface for 3D transformations in immersive VR. Our method uses intuitive gestures utilizing only the movement of the thumb and the index finger coupled with the hand rotation. These gestures not only allow the user to rotate a 3D model around the three axes but also scale the 3D model. We implement these gestures using Oculus Quest and present the implementation details. We perform a preliminary user study to demonstrate the effectiveness of our user interface in terms of both usability and user experience. The user study shows that a gesture-based user interface can be employed as a viable mechanism for interactive 3D transformation in immersive VR.
