The Influence of Knowing The Source of Information On Reader’s Perceptions. An Exploratory Study On Twitter

This work defines a classification of information based on argumentation to conduct an exploratory study to check the following hypotheses: H0: Knowing the source of information does not influence people's decision when identifying types of information on Twitter and, H1: Knowing the source of information does influence people's decision when identifying types of information on Twitter. The results obtained through the application of statistical tests and their contrast with graphic methods show that for information classified as "fact or data", "opinion or judgment" and "counterargument", the decision of people to know the source does not influence when identifying them, and for the type of information “argument”, it does. In addition, the results reveal that opinions spread more than facts on Twitter.
