Rethinking The Approach To Multi-Step Word Problems Resolution
Math multi-step word problems (MSWP) have benefit of a substantial amount of research attention from researchers and academics in the past and diverse strate-gies were provided to solve MSWP. However, students frequently struggle with MSWP for many reasons including mainly how different parts of a MSWP relate with each other. From the literature, we notice that the making plane stage is the most difficult of the solving process. To fix this problem, students need support in identifying the semantic relations between the problem's parts and organizing information to fa-cilitate problem translation and solution. In this paper, we propose to rethink the resolution strategy of MSWP by adopt-ing a goal-oriented approach in the making plan stage of the resolution process to help students learn how to solve efficiently MSWP.
